A Study of Genesis 1-5

As children we heard the stories of Adam and Eve, and these events became hard-wired into our thinking. Now as Adults when we read Genesis our preconceived ideas influence what we see, or fail to see, when we read Genesis 1-5.

This Bible Study document contains 10 studies that work through the first 5 chapters of the Bible to help the reader discern what the words of Genesis might actually be saying.

To gain the most from these studies the reader is encouraged to set aside all preconceived ideas about Creation and Adam and allow the words of Genesis to speak for themselves.

The studies are suitable for individual or group study. No answers have been provided, but I would be very happy to discuss any of the questions.

The document is designed to be printed as an A5 booklet. Print the PDF on A4 paper, in Landscape, double sided on the short side.

Genesis is, of course, a text that comes to us from a time and culture very different from our own. It is from the ancient Near East, so we cannot simply read it as if it were a contemporary Western document written to address contemporary Western concerns.
